During the first ODI between South Africa and India in Durban, India batsmen Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan were involved in a horrible mix up, with Dhawan falling short of his ground by a long distance, having been forced into the run by Kohli.
Kohli and Dhawan were going all nicely after Rohit Sharma’s departure, but against the run of play, there was some hesitation with respect to a run (which was never actually on) and Dhawan ultimately had to walk back, with Aiden Markram hitting the stumps down, running in from point.
The incident took place in the 13th over, when Dhawan tried to flick one off his pads and would have been trapped right in front if not for that faint inside edge.
The ball rolled onto the off-side, and while Dhawan was searching for the ball, Kohli had already charged down the pitch and was half-way there.
He made it clear to Kohli up front and turned around to tell his captain that the single wasn’t a wise decision. Even after returning to the dressing room he was still muttering and describing the turn of events in an angry tone to batting coach Sanjay Bangar.
Twitterati got a sense of it as well and here is how they reacted:
Dear Shikhar Dhawan, you must be remember that Virat Kohli is the captain.#INDvSA

So Shikhar Dhawan Is Run Out Only Twice In His ODI Career And Both Time Against Virat Kohli. So Basically Virat Kohli First Decides Shikhar Dhawan Will Play And Then Decides That He'll Not. 🙊😂🙏😂 #INDvSA #INDvsSA
