Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 2 wickets in the last match of the league stage in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 and is now all set to lock horns with India on Sunday in the finals.
In the virtual semi-final that was played in Colombo on Friday, Sri Lanka set a target of 160 runs, which Bangladesh successfully managed to chase.
Mahmudullah smashed a superb 6 on the penultimate ball of the match for reaching the target; however, there was too much drama towards the end of the game.
It started when Shakib Al Hasan asked the two batsmen to leave batting and come out of the field while protesting against the no-ball call made by the umpire.
Even during drinks, substitute fielder Nurul Hasan had a war of words with Sri Lankan skipper Thisara Perera. And when the matter became worse, match officials had to intervene.
Not only this, even Bangladesh’s dressing room was damaged after the ‘Naagin dance’ celebrations. Glasses were shattered too, and it is alleged that a senior Bangladeshi player is involved in this act.
Meanwhile, fans on Twitter seems to be very angry and is slamming Bangladesh for their exploits in Colombo.
Here are some of the tweets:
Dear #ICC you banned #KagisoRabada the other day, what plans with the #Bangladesh side for such poor behavior. This is a terrible endorsement and advertisement of the gentleman's game! #SLvsBAN #BanvSL #MKV

Well done @BCBtigers .. I would like to send more glass panes so that you can smash it on each other's head! Dear @ICC .. on behalf of #KagisoRabada I'm asking what's the way ahead with these #Hooligans #BanvSL #SLvsBAN https://t.co/UOospSX7Ys

How many demerit points today? Many more than in South Africa I would imagine!

This is the state of the Bangladesh dressing-room at Premadasa. Local sources at the ground confirm damage but are not yet releasing the name of the player who did the damage. #nidahastrophy2018 @ICC will definitely be taking a closer look. pic.twitter.com/U3CKOpgPnR

Well won, Bangladesh, but the drama was uncalled for.
This was way, way worse than what Rabada did.
I hope ICC are really harsh with demerit points this time.#SLvBAN— Abhishek Mukherjee (@ovshake42) March 16, 2018
If Rabada gets a suspension for touching Smith, the entire Bangladesh team should be barred from playing cricket unless they learn to behave! Pathetic representation of the game. #SLvBAN

Not impressed by Shakib’s instincts as captain & leader. Wanting to call his players off the field because of umpiring decisions. Nearly denied Bangladesh one of their greatest wins.#NidahasOnDSport

Not hearing the word ‘Sorry’ in Shakib’s post match reactions about his behaviour. Disappointing.

Courtney Walsh is the kind of cricketer who declined to run out the non-striker backing out of the crease because he thought it unsportsmanlike. He will be deeply ashamed of the behaviour of the team he is now coaching. #NidahasTrophy2018 #SLvBAN

Shakib may end up as Bangladesh’s greatest cricketer, but in the maturity department he’s sorely lacking. #SLvBAN #NidahasTrophy
