CSK has been one of the most successful teams in IPL history. Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, they have won the title twice (2010 and 2011).
After serving a ban of two years, the Chennai Super Kings franchise is ready to make a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
For IPL 2018, MS Dhoni was the first player to be retained by CSK, along with Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina. In the auction, they used their two RTMs to bring back Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis. In total, CSK franchise bought 22 players at the auction and now have a squad of 25 players, including eight overseas players to choose from going into IPL 2018.
The cricket fans and followers are hoping for a great comeback from their favorite team which adds a lot of pressure on them. With few core players, the franchise has to figure out the winning playing XI combination.
With Dhoni as captain and Suresh Raina back in form, things are looking positive. Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, and Faf du Plessis also add a lot of strength to the team. But as everyone has such high expectations for the team, the players must be feeling that heat. If the team fails in few early matches of the tournament, it would result in serious performance pressure on them. Will they live up to their expectations, we will have to wait and watch.
The team will play their first match against the defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 7, 2018.
