Kings XI Punjab opener KL Rahul came out all guns blazing as he blasted a fastest-ever half-century in the history of IPL to etch his name in the record books at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Sunday.
While chasing a total of 167 against Delhi Daredevils, Rahul achieved this feat off just 14 deliveries bettering the previous record made by Yusuf Pathan in 2014 and Sunil Narine in 2017 off 15 balls.
Rahul launched his brutal assault from the onset as he whacked Trent Boult for a huge six and took 16 runs off the New Zealand pacer’s first over. Rahul, who was bought for whopping Rs 11 crore by KXIP franchise in the auctions, then scored 11 runs from Mohammed Shami’s next over before taking on leggie Amit Mishra in a stunning display of clean and big hitting.
The Karnataka lad went on to hit 4, 6, 6, 4, 4 to bring up his blistering half-century. He clobbered six fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease before being dismissed for 51 by Chris Morris.
Also, KXIP owner Preity Zinta gave priceless expressions while Rahul was smashing the Daredevils’ bowlers all over the park.
