IPL 2018: Chennai Super Kings’ Kedar Jadhav ruled out of the tournament

Chennai Super Kings’ Kedar Jadhav has been ruled out of the rest of the remaining IPL due to a hamstring injury.

The all-rounder sustained a grade two hamstring injury while batting during the opening match against Mumbai Indians on Saturday and was forced to retire hurt.

Jadhav returned late in the innings to lead CSK to a dramatic one-wicket victory but hitting the winning runs has proved to be the 33-year-old’s final action in this year’s tournament.

“Him being ruled out is a big loss for us. He was a very key player for us in the middle order,” Chennai’s batting coach, Michael Hussey, was quoted as saying.

Jadhav was among Chennai’ most expensive picks- Rs. 7.8 crores- at the IPL auction, earlier in January.

CSK were already a player short following the knee injury to Mitchell Santner before the start of the tournament. However, they have approached an England pacer as Jadhav’s replacement for the remainder of the season.

According to the reports in Cricbuzz, CSK franchise is looking forward to having David Willey on board as the replacement for Jadhav. The left-arm fast bowler lodged all the paperwork with IPL governing council on Sunday evening itself according to the reports.
