There have been a number of umpiring howlers in the ongoung season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and one such debatable incident took place between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens stadium involving Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik.
Chasing a mammoth target of 211 runs against Mumbai Indians, all ten Kolkata Knight Riders players went back in the dressing room at just 108, hence incurring their biggest ever defeat in the history of the tournament.
Inform KKR captain Dinesh Karthik was run-out after a horrible mix-up with Nitish Rana that proved fatal for the home side. The replays, however, left fans double-minded as to whether Karthik should have stayed on the crease. It was Hardik at the bowler’s end, who received a throw from JP Duminy.
As the MI all-rounder made an attempt to dislodge the bails, it seemed as if the ball slipped through his hands and the bails came off as a result of a contact from Hardik’s hands. After have a look at many footages, the third umpire gave the decision against the batsman.
