Pakistan squad for Asia Cup 2018 announced

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have announced a 16-man squad for the 2018 Asia Cup set to begin in the United Arab Emirates from September 15.

The 18-year-old fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been included in the squad while opening batsman Shan Masood has also received a call-up for the six-nation tournament. Experienced players Yasir Shah and Mohammad Hafeez have been left out.

The rest of the squad remains unchanged from the last ODI series Pakistan featured in, a five-match face-off against Zimbabwe.

Sarfraz Ahmed remains to be the captain of the team. Pakistan are placed in Group A, which also features their arch rivals, India and the qualifier.

Pakistan begin their Asia Cup campaign with a league match against the winner of the ongoing Asia Cup Qualifier on September 16.

Sarfraz Ahmed (captain), Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Amir, Shadab Khan, Imam ul Haq, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Asif Ali, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Nawaz, Fahim Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Junaid Khan, Usman Shinwari and Shaheen Afridi.
