The schedule for the first standalone Women’s World T20 has been released. The ICC tournament will start on November 9 this year and will be played in Guyana, St Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda.
Interestingly, DRS (Decision Review System) will be used for the first time in any World T20 event, which according to ICC, will be implemented to ensure “consistency in the use of technology in top world-level events”.
The tournament will begin with a match between India and New Zealand in Guyana; Australia, Pakistan and Windies, Bangladesh will also be seen in action on the opening day.
Defending champions Windies are in Group A along with England, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, while Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland will be in Group B.
