Twitter Reactions: Rishabh Pant, Ajinkya Rahane put India on top after Umesh Yadav’s six-fer

Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant scored half-centuries as India reached 308 for four to trail by 3 runs at stumps on Day 2 of the second Test against Windies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Rahane (75 not out) and Pant (85 not out) were at the crease when umpires called it a day.

The post-lunch session belonged to the visitors as India posted 173 runs after the loss of four wickets at Tea.

Teenager Prithvi Shaw (70), who carried his impressive form from the first Test to score his maiden half-century was the first wicket to fall for the home side in the second session after his brilliant innings was brought to an end by Jomel Warrican.

Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara (10), on the other hand failed to score with the bat this time. Meanwhile, skipper Virat Kohli (45) looked in solid touch before he was caught infront of the wickets by Windies captain Jason Holder.

Rahane didn’t perturb with Kohli’s wicket and kept on playing his own game of patience. He was joined by Rishabh Pant whose glare sucked the life out of the Windies bowling slowly. The left-hander mixed caution with aggression superbly and made sure India were at advantage in the final session. The duo added an unbeaten stand of 146 runs for the fifth wicket by the end of the day’s play.

Earlier in the morning session, Umesh Yadav cleaned up Windies’ tail comfortably after they resumed at 295/7. He managed to reverse the ball significantly and ended up with his best Test figures of 6/88.

Yadav’s second five-wicket haul came after almost six years. Roston Chase completed his century and helped Windies recover from 113/5 to 311.
