India vs Windies ODI series 2018: Update on Rishabh Pant’s injury

India and Windies played out a thrilling tie at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

The visitors were the favourites to chase down the 322-run total but they failed to up the ante in the death overs and finally, the scores were levelled in a nail-bitting thriller. During the second innings of the 2nd ODI though, Rishabh Pant survived a major injury scare at the boundary line and was taken off the field after the same.

The incident occurred in the 36th over of the Windies chase when Rovman Powell skied a Yuzvendra Chahal delivery straight over the back of his head. Pant, standing at long on, did well to set himself under the ball and hold onto the catch but the momentum took him over the ropes and he slammed onto advertising hoardings. In the process, he injured his left shoulder and was left in brute pain. The youngster immediately held his left arm and was seen in pain as Indian team’s physiotherapist arrived to address his concern.

Will Rishabh Pant play in the last 3 ODIs?

Rishabh Pant has no serious injury and only some lacerations to his fingers of both hands and left shoulder which should not hold him from playing the last 3 ODIs against Windies. He was kept under observation after an initial check-up and it has been revealed that the 21-year old only had small bruises on his fingers because of the impact.
