Joe Carter and Brett Hampton on Tuesday created a world record by smashing 43 runs in an over including six sixes. While there are endless possibilities of how much can a bowler concede in an over, the duo has comfortably beaten the List A record for most runs in an over.
Carter and Hampton achieved the record feat during New Zealand’s domestic one-day cricket match in Hamilton while batting for Northern Districts against Central Districts.
On the receiving end of the onslaught by Carter and Hampton was South Africa-born pacer Willem Ludick. In the over of 43 runs, two came from the no balls. Hampton struck 23 runs while Carter scored 18 runs off the last three deliveries.
Hampton began Ludick’s over with a boundary, struck two sixes off two consecutive no ball deliveries, struck another six before taking a single to give the strike to Carter.
Carter made the best of the momentum with his partner and struck three more sixes to take the tally to 43 runs.
