Brendon McCullum thank Virat Kohli, RCB after being released ahead of IPL 2019 auction

Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) released Brendon McCullum, Corey Anderson and Sarfaraz Khan ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 auctions.

RCB, who is yet to win an IPL title, decided to let go of the Kiwi duo, along with Sarfaraz, who was one of the three players retained by the franchise ahead of IPL 2018 auctions. Despite boasting of some of the top T20 specialists, RCB hasn’t won the IPL title in last 11 seasons.

After being released on Thursday (November 15), McCullum took to Twitter to thank Kohli and RCB for the wonderful association.

“Thanks to the skipper @imVkohli and all the team @RCBTweets for an enjoyable time in last seasons @IPL. All the best for the season ahead fellas,” wrote McCullum, who remains to be one of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket.

RCB too thanked McCullum with a heartwarming message that read, “Lent invaluable experience to the younger guys and we know how much everyone in the squad looked up to you! The Chinnaswamy faithful were fortunate to have got a glimpse of your explosive batting #PlayBold forever, Baz.”

The 37-year old former Black Caps captain endured a lean spell in the 2018 IPL, playing just six matches, scoring 127 runs at an average of 21.16, with a high score of 43.
