India captain Virat Kohli went on to make a young fan’s day special by gifting him his pads, along with an autograph on the boy’s miniature bat after his team’s historic victory over the hosts Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
Kohli, along with his team, took a lap of honour around the MCG and thanked the fans who braved the rain to turn up at the stadium on the final day and cheered for the touring side throughout the match.
India won the Boxing Day Test by 137 runs after picking up the final two Australian wickets in the second session after rain wiped out the first session.
Australia needed 141 runs on the final day with two wickets in hand but their resistance was ended by India pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma, who got the wickets of the overnight batsmen Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon, respectively.
The Indian players then went to thank their fans after the post-match ceremony and it was then that Kohli decided to hand his pads to a young boy.
