Indian wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni had no option but to trudge off the SCG after wrongly given out during first ODI against Australia on Saturday.
Dhoni’s wicket was the turning point of the series opener as it tilted the match in the hosts’ favour at a crucial moment.
India suffered a 34-run defeat at the hands of Australia in the first ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Dhoni, who was returning to international cricket after a long break, was trapped lbw by debutant Jason Behrendorff for 51, having shared a 137-run stand with Rohit Sharma.
The ball was pitching outside leg stump but umpire Michael Gough raised his finger and Dhoni had to walk back.
Ambati Rayudu had already unsuccessfully used India’s only review earlier in the innings.
Even Australian legend Shane Warne, who was on air at that moment, had described the decision as an “absolute shocker”.
