Kedar Jadhav has credited MS Dhoni for shaping him into the kind of cricketer he is today. On Saturday, Jadhav smashed an unbeaten 22 and shared a quick 53-run stand with Dhoni as India posted a massive 324 for 4 against New Zealand in the second ODI at the Bay Oval. The bowlers came to the party again and scripted India’s biggest win (in terms of runs) on New Zealand soil.
Jadhav then went on to dismiss the dangerous Ross Taylor, thanks to Dhoni’s lightning-fast reflexes as a wicket-keeper.
After few overs, Dhoni once again provided an insight of his deep cricketing knowledge as he instructed Jadhav to bowl a particular line to Kiwi’s frontline batsman – Tom Latham.
The 37-year old urged Jadhav to hold one end up and bowl a particular line to Latham, who was looking dangerous and well set at the crease. The Dhoni-Jadhav conversation was caught in the stump microphone which recorded Dhoni saying, “Bhai aisa dalega to rakh le tu”.

During the post-match presentation, however, Jadhav said he was not focussed on becoming one of the main spinners in the Indian team.
“I am not trying to become the main spinner. I am pretty much trying to be a good part-time bowler who does not leak runs. Most importantly, my captain.. when he throws the ball to me, he tells me to avoid bowling boundary balls and in that process, if you pick up wickets, that’s a bonus. I feel most of the time the batsmen sometimes underestimate part-time bowlers and that is when they make mistakes. And that’s why I get lucky.”
