India veteran MS Dhoni giving advice to slow bowlers from behind the stumps is nothing new. ‘Captain Cool’ may no longer be the skipper of the side, but he is very much vocal.
The likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have been benefited and during the 5th ODI against New Zealand in Wellington, it was the turn of Kedar Jadhav.
However, Dhoni surprised everyone by speaking in Marathi, Jadhav’s mother tongue. Dhoni was heard saying “Pudhe nako bhau…gheun taak” which means “don’t bowl further mate…get him”.

The incident happened when New Zealand were wobbling at 180/7 while chasing a total of 252 runs. They were bowled out for 217. With the scoreline reading 4-1 at the end of the five-match series, India became the third team to defeat the Blackcaps in four or more ODIs in a bilateral series played on New Zealand soil.
Meanwhile, Jadhav while praising Dhoni’s Marathi speaking skills wrote on his Twitter account, “You always feel at home on foreign tours when @msdhoni is behind the stumps.”
Dhoni is well known for his command over multiple languages. Recently, in a video posted by Sakshi Dhoni on Instagram, he was seen speaking in Bhojpuri with daughter Ziva.
