IPL 2019: MI coach Mahela Jayawardene reveals the reason behind Jasprit Bumrah’s swollen eye

Mumbai Indians (MI) fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah gave nightmare to his fans when he suffered a shoulder injury during his side’s clash against Delhi Capitals in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the injury didn’t prove to be a serious one as he recovered well on time ahead of the next encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

But, on Wednesday, when Bumrah came to bowl against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium, his swollen eye caused concern amongst the Indian cricket fans as well as the commentators. It didn’t look good and everyone was eager to know the reason behind the same.

MI Head coach Mahela Jayawardene, while speaking on the sidelines during the second innings, revealed the reason why Bumrah’s eye was swollen.

Jasprit Bumrah got into a brawl?

The commentator who was interviewing Mahela Jayawardene hilariously asked if he was the reason behind Bumrah’s swollen eye. He further questioned if he gave a punch to the pacer. The Sri Lankan veteran was all smiles as soon as the question was put in front of him. He first decided to deliver his own version of the story but later revealed the real reason.

Jayawardene first mocked Bumrah by saying that he possibly did a night-out or got into a brawl. But later, he revealed that he missed a straight catch the other day during one of the practice sessions. The head coach further revealed that Bumrah had quite a big swelling on his face just one day before the game as well and said that the pacer was quite lucky.

He noted that the 25-year-old somehow managed to get the swelling down before the game against CSK.
