During a T20 encounter between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur, KKR opener Chris Lynn was at the centre of a bizarre incident when the bails didn’t come out despite the ball making contact with the stumps.
It was the fourth over of KKR’s chase when Lynn got an inside edge off Dhawal Kulkarni that ricocheted on to the stumps and raced to the boundary line for four. The bails didn’t fall and Lynn survived. Reacting to the incident, RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane shared a smile with his teammates. He even had a chat with the umpires but the Royals had to accept the fact that Lynn wasn’t out.
However, this isn’t the first instance in the ongoing IPL. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni had benefited from such a turn of events in the match against Rajasthan Royals earlier in the season.
On Saturday, it was Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) batsman KL Rahul who survived a direct hit on to the stumps by Dhoni.
