The big-hitting batsman Hardik Pandya and young leg-spinner Rahul Chahar set up a comprehensive 40-run win for Mumbai Indians (MI) over Delhi Capitals (DC) in a return leg of the IPL 2019 on Thursday.
Hardik (32 off 15) and his elder brother Krunal Pandya (37 not out off 26) propelled Mumbai to 168 for five after the visitors lost their way in the middle overs.
Chasing 169 was going to be tough on a slow and low Feroz Shah Kotla wicket and it turned out to be exactly that as Delhi squandered a solid platform of 48 for no loss in six overs to eventually lose the game by a huge margin.
19-year-old Rahur Chahar made the difference for MI in the second innings by removing the dangerous opening duo of Shikhar Dhawan (35 off 22) and Prithvi Shaw (20 off 24).
His outstanding figures read three for 19 in four overs and he continues his upward graph this season.
The home team ended with 128 for nine in 20 overs.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
Yes, the wicket helped him but Rahul Chahar was mighty impressive. As he has been throughout the IPL

Kotla is dishing out some seriously substandard T20 pitches. Slow and Low. #DCvMI #IPL

It was the Hardik Pandya show for #MI. Brilliant control and leg spin by Rahul Chahar. Another loss for #DC at their home.@mipaltan, as usual are starting to look better and dangerous.#DCvMI #IPL

Rahul Chahar possibly one of the finest leg spinners in India right now. He didn’t play a single game for MI last season.
Has improved and is a frontline spinner now.#DCvMI— Sarang Bhalerao (@bhaleraosarang) April 18, 2019

Just contacted Ambati Rayudu to find out from where did he buy the 3D glasses. If Hardik Pandya continues to plays like this I might be needing one pretty soon. 🙃 #MIvDC #DCvMI

Chahar was pick of the bowlers today IMO. Will he be MOM or Hardik Pandya? Let’s see

Jasprit Bumrah & Hardik Pandya have been the most exciting players to come out of Indian Cricket in the last 5 years. #DCvMI
