Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Steve Smith took a blinder to get remove the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener David Warner during an Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between the two teams at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
In the 13th over of the SRH innings, Warner top-edged an Oshane Thomas delivery high in the air and Smith – who was fielding at mid-off – ran to his right and dived full-length to complete a stunning catch.
Smith also ended Warner’s efforts of etching his name in IPL record books. The southpaw was gunning to become the first cricketer in the history of the tournament to hit six consecutive fifties. But he couldn’t do so as he was dismissed for 37 (32).
Warner, in the past five games, had scores of 57, 67, 50, 51 and 71 not out. In IPL 2019, he has scored seven half-centuries and a century.
Warner is currently the Orange cap holder with 612 runs.
