One of the most popular sayings in cricket is ‘Don’t mess with Dhoni Review System’, and during the Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Vizag on Friday, umpire Sundaram Ravi messed with DRS and faced the embarrassment.
It all happened in the third over of DC’s innings which was bowled by CSK seamer Deepak Chahar. On the third ball of his over, Chahar bowled a straight delivery on the stumps as Prithvi Shaw went for a big pull shot but he completely missed the ball.
The CSK players appealed in unison but the on-field umpire did not look convinced. However, MSD had other ideas as he decided to get it reviewed and went for a DRS. Replays showed that the ball would have hit the middle stump. The umpire Ravi overturned his decision and Shaw went back to the dugout.
