Virat Kohli-led India will play their first ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match against South Africa on June 5 and will compete with their arch-rivals Pakistan on June 16.
The 15-man Indian squad is a combination of seven batsman, three all-rounders, and five bowlers. The batting unit will be spearheaded by captain Kohli and he will get a fine support by Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav.
In the bowling unit, the team has opted for three seamers instead of four. Therefore, it makes the role of Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar more crucial as one out of the two will have to step in as the fourth seamer.
Dinesh Karthik has been included in the squad as a backup wicketkeeper for Dhoni.
Complete squad:
Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Vijay Shankar, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami.
