West Indies star all-rounder Andre Russell has been ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 owing to a hamstring injury. He will now be replaced by right-handed batsman Sunil Ambris in the 15-member squad.
In the ongoing World Cup edition, Russell has taken five wickets in four matches he played, in the match against New Zealand, Russell was dropped from the playing XI.
Russell visibly struggled with a knee problem during Windies’ match against Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Ambris will join up with his team in preparation for the match against India at Old Trafford on Thursday.
The 26-year-old Ambris has featured in six ODIs and averages 105.33. He has a hundred and a half-century fifty to his name in the 50-over format.
Well, after managing only one win from their six games, the West Indies have very slim chance of making it to the semi-finals of the showpiece event in England and Wales.
