The Aussies were at their best when they locked horns with Eoin Morgan-led England in a World Cup clash on Tuesday. Australia went on to beat their Ashes rivals by 64 runs at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
After put to in bat, the Australian openers Aaron Finch and David Warner dominated the first but it was the England bowlers who came back strongly in the second half and ensured that their opposition was restricted to only 285/7.
Defending the total, Jason Behrendorff and Mitchell Starc started the proceedings in an extraordinary fashion, dismissing England’s James Vince, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan early. Ben Stokes played a fighting role but was cleaned up by a ferocious yorker from Starc. The left-arm pace duo ran through the lower order and England fell well short of the target.

England in deep waters. Stuck at 8 points. Beaten comprehensively by Australia.

Last two years have been completely contrasting for both Australia and England… Who would’ve thought Australia would qualify for the semis ahead of the favourites… #EngvAus Tables have turned

England and Australia have moved in opposite directions in the last week: England from bad to worse, Aussies from good to excellent. World Cup thrown open. Pak v NZ match tomorrow should be a needle contest

Thank You Australia! England over-rated even with all their foreign imported cricketers. fear on @Eoin16's face when he walked out to bat though. 😂 #ENGvAUS #CWC19
