ICC World Cup 2019: Sourav Ganguly gives a fitting reply to MS Dhoni’s critics

Just after India’s World Cup 2019 clash against Afghanistan, wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni had been in the eyes of the storm for his slow innings.

Dhoni scored 28 runs off 52 deliveries at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton on Saturday (June 22). Post this, the former Indian skipper has been brutally trolled by the netizens. However, the bashing was not limited to social media but even off the field as cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar was unhappy with Dhoni.

“I felt slightly disappointed, it could have been much better. I was also not happy with the partnership between Kedar and Dhoni, it was very slow. We batted 34 overs of spin bowling and scored 119 runs. This was one area where we didn’t look comfortable at all. There was no positive intent,” Tendulkar was quoted as saying.

Now, Sourav Ganguly in a recent interview gave a fitting reply to Dhoni’s critics and said that MSD will bounce back soon and he should not be judged on the basis of one game.

“At the end of the day, MSD is a very good batsman and he will definitely prove that in this year’s World Cup 2019 as well despite his sticky form against Afghanistan. It’s just one match,” said Ganguly, as quoted by DNA.

Dhoni has not had many opportunities with the bat so far in the ongoing World Cup and has scored 90 runs in four innings for the Men in Blue, who are currently unbeaten in the tournament bagging four wins in their first five games. Dhoni will be hoping to respond to his critics with the bat when India take on West Indies in their next game at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday.
