PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday consoled Virat Kohli-led Team India after they lost to New Zealand by 18 runs in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
In his tweet, the Indian Prime Minister stated that Team India should feel proud of their performance in the ongoing tournament and for the fight they showed in the match at Old Trafford in Manchester.
“A disappointing result, but good to see #TeamIndia’s fighting spirit till the very end. India batted, bowled, fielded well throughout the tournament, of which we are very proud,” Narendra Modi tweeted.
PM Modi also added that winning and losing is part of the game while wishing the team best of luck for their future endeavours.
“Wins and losses are a part of life. Best wishes to the team for their future endeavours”.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter to express his support to Team India for their outstanding performance in the World Cup.
“Though they’re a billion broken hearts tonight, Team India, you put up a great fight and are deserving of our love & respect,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
He also congratulated New Zealand for their second successive World Cup final.
“Congratulations to New Zealand on their well-earned win, that gives them a place in the World Cup final,” Rahul Gandhi added.

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Virat Kohli congratulated New Zealand for their win and also thanked all the fans for coming out in huge numbers to support Team India.
“We knew we had a good day yesterday and we’re proud of it. Had a good time in the morning today as well and we had momentum with us. Credit to the New Zealand bowlers, they were really good with the new ball and hit the right areas. I think it was the skill level on display (from NZ bowlers) was there for all to see. I think Jadeja had a really good couple of games and it’s his performance today that’s a huge positive for his skill-set,” said the Indian skipper.
