After Ben Stokes’ tweet, Specsavers offers Jack Leach free glasses for life

After England’s spectacular win against Australia in the third Ashes Test, Specsavers announced that bowler Jack Leach would be getting free spectacles for life.

All-rounder Ben Stokes had asked the official sponsor of the series to give the spinner free specs.

Stokes tweeted –

“Jack Leach……..@Specsavers do your self a favour and give him free glasses for life @jackleach1991.”

Specsavers replied with a confirmation –

“We can confirm we will offer Jack Leach free glasses for life.”

Stokes played one of the most outstanding knocks in Test cricket as he guided England to an astonishing one-wicket win against Australia at Headingley.

Chasing a victory target of 359, England were left stranded on 286/9. It was then that the England vice-captain started playing in aggressive mode.

He found steady support in No. 11 Jack Leach and the duo constructed an unbeaten 76-run stand, wherein, Leach’s contribution was only 1 run from 17 balls.

The left-arm leg-spinner was seen wiping his glasses at the crease and then playing the deliveries bowled to him.

As soon as the match ended, Specsavers inquired about the official manager of Leach via a tweet.

“Does anybody know Jack Leach’s agent? Asking for a friend… #Ashes,” Specsavers wrote.

Earlier this year, despite being a nightwatchman, Leach had stunned everyone by scoring 92 runs against Ireland in a one-off Test.

The ongoing Ashes is presently levelled at 1-1 with two Test matches remaining.

England and Australia will face-off in the fourth Test that gets underway from September 4 at Old Trafford.
