India’s Jemimah Rodrigues smashed an unbeaten century for Yorkshire Diamonds in a Kia Super League T20 match on Sunday. Her 112 not out off 58 balls came under pressure in a thrilling last-ball win over Southern Vipers. The right-handed batter’s ton included 17 fours and a six that helped her side chase down a competitive total of 185 runs, with four wickets to spare. It was the most successful run chase against the Vipers in the mega event.
Rodrigues ended up hitting the fastest hundred – off 51 balls. In the process, the batswoman broke Lizelle Lee’s record of the quickest KSL ton. Lee had notched up a 55-ball century in the year 2017.
The 18-year-old, with 341 runs, also moved to the 2nd spot in the list of leading run-scorers in the league.
Rodrigues emerged as the first non-opener in the tournament to score a ton. Overall, she is the 6th player to get a hundred under her belt in the Kia Super League.
The batting all-rounder arrived at the crease after skipper Lauren Winfield’s dismissal on the 2nd ball, and she stayed till the end.
Yorkshire Diamonds will lock horns with Western Storm in their next match on Wednesday.
