After brilliant performance in Antigua Test, Jasprit Bumrah breaks into Top 10 in ICC Test Rankings

Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah, who is the No. 1 bowler in ICC ODI rankings, has now broken into the Top 10 in Tests. He had ripped apart the Windies batting line-up in the second innings of the first Test. The young fast bowler’s figures of 5 for 7 helped him jump nine places and rise to the seventh spot. West Indies pacer Kemar Roach, who scalped five wickets in the same Test match, occupied the eighth position after moving three slots.

In the case of batsmen, sitting pretty at the top at the table, Virat Kohli has 910 points while the back-to-back centurion in the Ashes 2019, Steve Smith is second with 904 points. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and India’s Cheteshwar Pujara are placed third and fourth respectively.

However, the player who gained the most was England’s Ashes hero Ben Stokes.

His unbeaten 135 in the second innings of the third Test guided England to a thrilling one-wicket win against Australia. Consequently, the series is tied at 1-1, with two more matches to play. The 28-year-old achieved career-best rankings, moving up to the 13th spot among Test batsmen after advancing 13 slots. He has also climbed up to the second position among all-rounders after advancing 44 points post the Headingley Test. He is now on 411 points, while West Indies captain Jason Holder is the No. 1 Test all-rounder with 433 points.
