Australian fans thrown out of Old Trafford after asking Jofra Archer to show his passport

A couple of Australian fans were thrown out of Old Trafford after they abused England pacer Jofra Archer, as per a report published in The Sydney Morning Herald. The pair was sitting near the boundary where Archer was fielding. “Jofra, show us your passport,” referring to his Barbadian origin, was one of the comments reflecting poor taste.

The Aussie supporters who were seated close to the England dressing room had to be removed by the authorities after several complaints by their neighbouring spectators.

The 24-year-old fast bowler was frustrated by the constant provocations, but didn’t respond.

Day 1 of the fourth Ashes Test was gloomy and windy, and only 44 overs of play were possible, thanks to the Rain Gods.

Apart from delays due to the rain that played a severe spoilsport, what was highly frustrating for England was that Archer failed to pick up a single wicket.

On the other hand, Australia’s Steve Smith (60*), who made a comeback after concussion, scored his eighth straight Ashes half-century.

The series is levelled at 1-1, and a win for the Australians would ensure they retain the Ashes on England’s home soil.
