The award is for Mr. Bachchan’s outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema.
Mr. Bachchan will mark his 50th anniversary in Indian cinema this year. He made his debut in 1969 with the movie, Saat Hindustani.
After the announcement, Bollywood fraternity and fans started wishing Mr. Bachchan on social media. Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar also uniquely congratulated Big B.
In his message, Sachin used the famous dialogue from Senior Bachchan’s super-hit movie Agneepath.
“‘Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Poora Naam. Baap Ka Naam Dinanath Chauhan, Maa Ka Naam Suhasini Chauhan. Gaon Mandwa. Umar 36…’ a line that gives me goosebumps even today! May you continue to win hearts across the globe, Amit ji,” tweeted Sachin.
