Opening the innings in a Test match for the first time, Rohit Sharma smashed a century against South Africa on the opening day of the first Test at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday (October 2).
With his century in the Vizag Test, Rohit has joined the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw in a unique list of Indian players to score a Test hundred in maiden innings as an opener.
Rohit also became the first Indian player to score a century in all three formats of the game – Tests, ODIs, and T20Is – as an opener.
Even after completing his century, Rohit continued to play with similar intent and was well supported by Mayank Agrawal as the openers took India to 202/0 at Tea on Day 1.
