Rohit Sharma’s supreme form with the bat continued in the second innings for India as the swashbuckling batsman added few more records to his name after he walked out to open on Day 4 of the first Test against South Africa in Vizag on Saturday.
After launching Dane Peidt for a massive six in the 20th over, Rohit became the batsman to hit the most number of sixes in a Test match – 13.
Rohit surpassed Wasim Akram’s long-standing record of 12 sixes in a Test match. The former Pakistani skipper had hit 12 maximums against Zimbabwe back in 1996.

Earlier, with his 12th fifty in Test cricket, Rohit surpassed Rahul Dravid’s record for the most number of consecutive fifty-plus scores in Tests at home. Dravid had hit six successive fifty-plus scores between 1997 and 1998.
His list of records doesn’t end there. Rohit also became broke Kepler Wessels’ record of scoring the most number of runs in a Test opening the innings for the first time. Wessels had 208 runs in his two innings for Australia against England in 1982-83, while Rohit scored 303 runs (176 and 127) in Vizag.
