After giving India an early breakthrough by removing Dean Elgar before stumps on Saturday, Ravindra Jadeja claimed three more wickets on the fifth and final day to derail South Africa’s 395-run chase.
The 30-year-old left-armer struck thrice in an over but missed a chance to bag his maiden hat-trick in international cricket.
He removed Aiden Markram, Vernon Philander, and Keshav Maharaj in the 27th over and left the visitors struggling at 117/8 till lunch.
