After being put in to bat first, Australia got off to a dream start with openers Aaron Finch and David Warner, adding a brilliant 122-run partnership for the first wicket. Warner notched up his maiden T20I century en-route to his sublime knock of 100 runs off 56 balls. Meanwhile, Finch also looked in elegant touch as he scored 64 off 36 balls.
After Finch’s dismissal, Warner added a 107-run stand for the second wicket with Maxwell. With the help of Warner’s hundred and half-centuries from Finch and Maxwell, Australia posted a mammoth total of 233/2 on the board.
