Amid the turbulence of its players’ strike and Shakib Al Hasan’s ban, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced their revised squad for the upcoming series against India that begins with a T20I leg from November 3.
Mominul Haque has been appointed Bangladesh’s new skipper for the Tests while experienced all-rounder Mahmudullah will take over as captain in T20Is.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam replaces Shakib in the T20I squad that was initially named while Abu Hider will replace allrounder Mohammad Saifuddin who was ruled out last week due to a recurring back injury.
Mohammed Mithun has also called up for opener Tamim Iqbal, who was previously replaced by Imrul Kayes after opting out to stay at home for the birth of his second child. Kayes has, however, been named in the Test squad.
Also, left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman has been picked for the two-match Test series. Mustafizur will replace Taskin Ahmed, who missed Bangladesh’s match against Afghanistan in September.
Mustafizur last played a Test match in March 2019, during Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand. Fellow seamer Al-Amin Hossain also returns to the squad – he last played a Test match in October 2014, and his last Bangladesh appearance was in March 2016.
