Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019: WATCH – Manoj Tiwary takes a breathtaking catch against Mumbai

The Wankhede crowd witnessed a breathtaking catch from Manoj Tiwary during a clash between Bengal and Mumbai in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Tiwary, who has been out of the national team for a long time now, has been working hard to get back into India colors, but the Bengal stalwart has failed to create a buzz among the selectors.
However, the 34-year-old continues to impress with his brilliance on the field, and something similar happened during the thrilling encounter in Mumbai on Thursday.

Tiwary pulled off a stunning catch out of thin air to dismiss the Mumbai opener Jay Bista. In the 14th over of the match, Bengal’s left-arm orthodox bowler Shahbaz Ahmed bowled a flatter off-spin to which Bista tried to smash the ball over the covers. But, Tiwary, who was standing at covers, had other ideas; he dived to his left to take a blinder to send Bista back to the pavilion for 48.

Batting first, Bengal posted a competitive 153/4 in 20 overs following a half-century from opener Vivek Singh and quickfire knocks by Sreevats Goswami and Shahbaz Ahmed.

During the chase, Mumbai’s big guns in Shreyas Iyer (15), Suryakumar Yadav (22), Siddhesh Lad (0), and Shivam Dube (0) failed to make a mark and left the hosts hanging by a thin thread.

However, all-rounder Shubham Ranjane played a blistering cameo of unbeaten 30 off 17 deliveries, which included a last-ball boundary helping Mumbai to seal the win.
