Mitchell Starc starred as Australia knocked over Pakistan on the stroke of stumps on Day 1 of the opening Test in Brisbane.
Starc claimed four wickets – including the final dismissal of the innings – as Pakistan were bundled out for 240 at the Gabba on Thursday.
Starc, who played only a single Test in the 2019 Ashes, was back at his best with the red-ball as he left the Pakistan batting unit in tatters. The pick of the delivery from Starc came when he rattled Yasir Shah’s stumps with one of the best yorkers in recent times, bringing back the memories of the peach he bowled to England’s Ben Stokes in the 2019 World Cup.
Shah’s wicket fell as soon as the Australian skipper Tim Paine took the second new ball in the 81st over of the match and handed it over to Starc. The left-arm pacer didn’t waste time and fired in an in-swinging yorker straight into the blockhole to leave Shah gasping for air.
After the ball rattled the off-stump, Shah was left amazed by the quality of the yorker and headed back to the pavilion.
