WATCH: When Peter Siddle took a hat-trick on his birthday

Pete Siddle turned 35 on Monday (November 25, 2019). The Australian pacer made his international debut against India in 2008 and since then represented the Baggy Greens in 67 Test matches and 20 ODIs.

Although injuries have bogged his career, Siddle has still managed to pick 221 Test wickets and is 13th on the list of Australia’s all-time highest wicket-takers in the longest format.

Hat-trick on his birthday against England

England were steadily recovering with Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen at the crease after Ben Hilfenhaus gave visitors a worst possible start by dismissing their skipper Andrew Strauss in the third delivery of the first over on Day 1 of the first Test match in Brisbane.

Siddle first removed Pietersen and Paul Collingwood in successive over before the big moment. Twenty-five overs after his double scalp, Siddle returned – Australia had failed to remove any other English batsman and Cook, Ian Bell were busy doing the repair job – and sent Cook, Matt Prior and Stuart Broad back off three consecutive deliveries.

Cook departed after edging to first slip, Prior’s middle-stump was sent flying, and Broad was too slow to move and was caught in front of the wickets. Siddle, therefore, completed his maiden Test hat-trick on 26th birthday.
