David Warner, the swashbuckling Australian opener, smashed his maiden triple century on Day 2 of the ongoing Pink-Ball Test against Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
The southpaw reached the 300-run mark by hitting a boundary towards the mid-wicket region.
On Friday, Warner opened the batting with Joe Burns (4), and till stumps, he was batting on 166 not out. His incredible 361-run partnership with No. 3 Marnus Labuschagne dominated Pakistan bowling attack.
In the first session of play on Day 3, Warner took a single on the last delivery of 84th over of the innings to complete his double century.
Before fans and experts could anticipate if Warner will break Brain Lara’s 400 run milestone, the Aussie skipper Tim Paine declared the innings. Warner remained unbeaten on 335.
After the declaration, Warner receives a guard of honor from his team-mates near the boundary rope.
Warner entered his name into the record books:
- 335* – Highest score by any player at the Adelaide Oval; previous best: Sir Don Bradman – 299*
- 335*- Highest score by an Aussie in Test cricket after Matthew Hayden’s 380 against Zimbabwe in 2003

There have now been 2 triple-centuries in pink ball Tests (Azhar Ali & Warner) – 1 every 6.5 Tests.
There have been 29 triple-centuries in 2359 red ball Tests – 1 every 81.3 Tests— Andrew Samson (@AWSStats) November 30, 2019
Banned, shamed & vilified over Sandpaper-gate….taunted & mocked during an Ashes series in which he could barely buy a run…. now he's scored 300 on what would have been his great mate Philip Hughes' 31st birthday.
A stunning redemption for @davidwarner31. 👏👏👏👏 pic.twitter.com/1puuiKzWr2— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) November 30, 2019

– 7th Australia batsman #AusvPak— Bharath Seervi (@SeerviBharath) November 30, 2019
For the cracking rate at which he has scored runs, this is a remarkable triple century by @davidwarner31, even allowing for poor Pak bowling attack. Unless he makes a mistake out of fatigue or Aus declare to pick up some wickets, Brian Lara’s record score unsafe today

A 300 is special. @davidwarner31 is making up very quickly for a lean Ashes. And spare a thought for Yasir Shah who is about to go past 200 again
