Chris Gayle set to play in upcoming BPL, confirms Chattogram Challengers

It seems that Chris Gayle has taken a u-turn over his decision of not participating in the upcoming season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Just a few days before, the Jamaican born had an interaction with the journalists after his exit from the Mzansi Super League (MSL), where the star cricketer said that he is taking a break from cricket for the rest of 2019 and opted himself out from India vs. West Indies series.

Gayle then also made himself unavailable for the Big Bash League and BPL. Further, he revealed how his name reached in the drafts of BPL. “I don’t even know how my name reached the BPL, but I have been drafted in a team, and I don’t even know how that happened,” said Gayle.

However, managing director of Chattogram Challengers KM Rifatuzzaman said that he (Gayle) has hamstring trouble and will be available in the second half of the league.

“Chris Gayle has a hamstring niggle; he will need a bit of time to be completely fit. He was always going to play in the BPL, and even though we will not have him for the entire campaign, he will be available in the latter part,” said Rifatuzzaman

Challengers MD also said that the former West Indies skipper is likely to ply his trade after January 4.

Speaking about BPL, Gayle has appeared for five different teams and has played every season of the league. He also has most hundreds (5) and is at the 6th spot to score most runs in the league. However, in the T20s, he has played 400 games and has scored over 13000 runs.
