West Indies top-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer on Sunday scored his 5th ODI hundred in Chennai and guided his team to an emphatic eight wickets win over India in the first game of the 3-match ODI series.
Hetmyer’s smashed 139 runs off just 109 deliveries with the help of 11 fours and seven sixes. The century in Chennai is also Hetmyer’s second against India, with his knock of 106 in Guwahati last year being his first hundred in the country.
On the 5th ball of the 36th over bowled by Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Hetmyer hit a 106 meter six onto the roof of the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Meanwhile, India captain Virat Kohli was seen in sheer disappointment after watching his bowlers being smashed out of the park.
Hetmyer, who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2020 auction scheduled for December 19, is set to see his valuation rise by leaps by dint of his knock against India at the Chepauk.
Hetmeyer has added a few hundred thousand dollars to his Auction Price on the 19th. Audition has gone pretty well thus far. #IndvWI #IPL
