Pakistan veteran Waqar Younis has hailed left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi for his brilliant bowling performance on Day 2 of the second Test against Sri Lanka at National Stadium in Karachi.
Afridi took his career’s first fifer after dismantling Sri Lankan batting line-up. He dismissed Oshada Fernando (4), Angelo Mathews (13), Dhananjaya de Silva (32), Dilruwan Perera (48) and Lahiru Kumara (0) to complete his fifer.
Afridi’s outstanding efforts impressed former cricketer and current coach of Pakistan team, Waqar Younis, as he took to Twitter to praise the young fast bowler.
“Not bad from a 19year old…Hard work always pay off…Congratulations on picking up your first of many five wickets haul… @iShaheenAfridi #PAKvsSL,” tweeted Younis.

As of now, Afridi has taken 24 wickets in seven Tests. He was criticized for his performance during the tour of Australia, but soon after receiving the praise from the legendary pacer, Afridi’s confidence would inevitably rise upwards.
The first Test of Pakistan vs Sri Lanka series held in Rawalpindi ended in a draw. The ongoing series is also a part of the World Test Championship (WTC) with nine teams competing for the title. The top two teams will play the final at Lords in June 2021.
