India beat West Indies by four wickets in the deciding third ODI at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday night.
The thrilling victory helped India to their 10th consecutive series over West Indies, as the host chased down a target of 316 set by the visitors with eight balls to spare.
Virat Kohli pumped up
Captain Kohli (85 off 81 balls) must have feared the worst when he was dismissed by Windies all-rounder Keemo Paul in the 47th over. However, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur (17 not out off 6 balls) ensured that their captain’s effort does not go in vain.
The game turned completely in India’s favor when Sheldon Cottrell came to bowl the 48th over with the Men in Blue needing 22 from 18 balls. The first two balls went for three runs before Shardul Thakur hit Cottrell for a six and a four on the third and fourth ball respectively.
India eventually collected 15 runs from that over and sealed the win in the next one. And as Thakur hit Cottrell for a six and a four, Kohli could not contain his excitement.
When the cameramen turned towards Kohli, the Indian skipper was seen shouting and pumping his fist in the air out of delight.
