Indian captain Virat Kohli and opener Rohit Sharma continued their domination in the latest released ICC ODI rankings for batsmen. With 887 points, Kohli is at the top spot while Rohit is in the second position with 873 points.
In the current calendar year, Rohit is the leading run-scorer in ODIs with 1490 runs, Kohli follows him with 1337 runs.
Rohit had a sensational 2019, and on Sunday, he created another world record. India’s vice-captain broke Sri Lanka’s all-time great Sanath Jayasuriya’s 22-year-old record for most runs in a calendar year by an opener across formats.
West Indies consistent batter Shai Hope also had a dream year and now he has entered the top-10 list. Hope gained five places to reach the ninth position. The right-handed wicket-keeper batsman clubbed 1345 ODI runs this year, and he was just behind Rohit and Kohli among the leading run-scorers.
Pakistan’s Babar Azam retained his third spot while South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis stays at No.4.
New Zealand’s Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson are at 5th and 6th place, respectively.
With 794 points Australia’s destructive opener David Warner has claimed the 7th position while England’s Joe Root grabbed the 8th spot with 787 points. South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock sealed the last position in the latest rankings.
