The past decade has seen three 50-over World Cup tournaments, two Champions Trophy, four T20 World Cups, and 866 Test matches. The massive amount of cricket resulted in producing the best bowlers who ruled in this decade. From Ravichandran Ashwin to Trent Boult, bowlers from different nations had a magnificent decennium.
When it comes to the top performers, then few bowlers have shown their dominance and taken the maximum number of wickets.
Let’s have a look at five bowlers who claimed most wickets in this decade (2010-19):
1.) Ravichandran Ashwin
India’s stalwart spinner Ravichandran Ashwin puzzled the batsmen in all formats with his immense variety. The off-break bowler played 227 international matches in the past decade and took 564 wickets, the most by any bowler.
2.) James Anderson
Known as the best swing bowler of modern cricket, James Anderson had taken England cricket to new heights. With the help of his sublime bowling in the past decade, the 37-year-old claimed 537 wickets in his 180 appearances on the field.
3.) Stuart Broad
England’s Stuart Broad dismantled batting units by his pure pace and accurate line-length. His tall height helped him to intimidate batsmen with extra bounce. The magical bowler took his nation’s cricket team to a flyer by giving clinical performances in the past decade. Just seven wickets short from his partner-in-crime, Anderson, Broad picked 530 international wickets.
4.) Tim Southee
Arguably one of the best out-swing bowlers the game has ever produced, Tim Southee damaged the opposing teams with his outstanding bowling. He came into the limelight after his clinical performance in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup. The right-hand bowler has never looked back since then and continued his skillful bowling in the international circuit. Southee took 475 wickets in the past decade.
5.) Trent Boult
Another New Zealander in the list of great bowlers of the decade is Trent Boult. The left-arm pacer gave new energy to the Blackcaps squad. The past decade had been excellent for the 30-year-old bowler as he claimed 459 international wickets and is at the 5th spot in this list.
