David Warner gives a hilarious answer when asked about playing 2023 World Cup with Aaron Finch

Australian openers, David Warner and Aaron Finch, stitched together an unbroken 258-run stand to lead their team to a 10-wicket win in the first game of the three-match series against India at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday (January 14).

The opening partnership held between Warner and Finch was the second-highest in a 10-wicket win run-chase and the highest ever against India in ODIs.

“We complement each other on the field, and we’re great mates off the field as well. We know each other’s games and personalities well. We have honest conversations. If we’re playing shots that we wouldn’t, we reassure each other about that,” said Warner at the post-match press conference.

With both Warner and Finch showing exemplary class, the Aussies would host the upcoming T20 World Cup in high confidence.

Speaking about the mega ICC event, when Warner was asked whether he and Finch are looking forward to playing in the next 50-over World in 2023, he came up with a hilarious reply.

“We’ll speak to our wives first,” said Warner.

“We’ll both be 36 or 37. I’ve got three kids, and I hope that’s the last one. We’ll take one step at a time. We’ll look to the next game in Rajkot. We actually spoke about this in the team meeting, not looking too far ahead,” added Warner.

Australia are 1-0 up in the ODI series, and their next meeting with India is on Friday (January 17) at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
