Australian captain Aaron Finch was left fuming at his batting partner Steve Smith after the superstar sent his skipper down the river in a run-out disaster against India in the series decider at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Having just lost David Warner for three, Smith walked in to the crease with the hopes of steadying Australia’s innings.
But what happened next could have been any further from that as he caused a running mix-up for the ages.
Facing Mohammed Shami in the ninth over, Smith called Finch for a quick single before changing his mind and running back to the crease. That left Finch stranded in no-man’s-land as he desperately tried to run back to the bowler’s end only for India to effortlessly take his wicket.
Moving back to the pavilion, Finch was visibly livid as he was caught by cameras cursing and yelling his way from the pitch.
YES!! NOOOO!! WAITTT!!!??

Earlier, Finch, while explaining his decision to bat first, said that the pitch is not going to change much and they want to pile on runs on the scoreboard and put pressure on the hosts in the second innings.
“It’s a good wicket. Hopefully, we can post a good score and defend it later. It’s (the decision to bat first) based on conditions and history. Hopefully, we can get some early wickets defending and get into the Indian middle order. It looks like a bloody good wicket, there’s not much green when you look at it up close, and it will play good for a hundred overs,” said Finch after the toss.
