“Remember us in your prayers”: Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman tweets before heading for Pakistan

Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s recent tweet has raised a few eyebrows. On Wednesday, the pacer posted a picture with his teammates before leaving for Pakistan but the caption is what has grabbed the attention of Twitter users.

The 2020 Bangladesh tour of Pakistan tour will take place in three phases: three T20Is in January, one Test in February, and an ODI and a Test in April.

One must remember that the Bangladesh team did not want to go to Pakistan due to security concerns. Only after the officials from both sides met in Dubai and there was a lot discussion then the BCB agreed to allow their team to tour Pakistan.

But, senior player Mushfiqur Rahim still decided against traveling to Pakistan citing personal reasons. After that, five members of the Bangladesh coaching staff also pulled out of the tour. And now Mustafizur’s cryptic tweet looks more like a dig at Pakistan’s security.

Mushfiqur Rahim: ‘Cricket not bigger than life’

“I have already said I wouldn’t go to Pakistan. I had made up my mind about it long ago and had informed the board. I have submitted a letter too,” said Rahim after withdrawing his name from the Bangladesh squad.

Speaking about how his family is not permitting him to go to Pakistan, he added, “My family is worried, and they don’t want me to go. There’s no bigger sin for me than not playing for Bangladesh. But at the same time, Cricket is not bigger than life.” “I would like to say that the situation in Pakistan is better than before,” he added.
