Team India was on Saturday fined 40 percent of its match fee for maintaining slow over-rate in the fourth T20I against New Zealand at the Sky Stadium in Wellington.

“Chris Broad of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanctions after Virat Kohli’s side was ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.

“In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time,” the statement read further.

Meanwhile, the Indian skipper has also pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the sanction. Since Kohli had accepted the sanction, there was no formal hearing needed.

The Men in Blue defeated the Black Caps in the Super Over on Friday to extend their lead to 4-0 in the five-match series. The fifth and final T20I will be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Sunday.
